God’s Power!

Numbers 13:1 – 14:25

READ –  “Please, Lord, prove that Your power is as great as You have claimed. For You said,” Numbers 14:17 NLT

EXAMINE – The LORD told Moses to send out twelve (12) spies to search out the Promised Land of Canaan (Numbers 13:1-2). Moses selected the men and sent them out with instructions to bring back information on the people, cities, the land, and even the fruit of the land (Numbers 13:17-20).  The spies returned with good news of the “land flowing with milk and honey” and even evidence of the fruit (Numbers 13:25-27). However, ten of the spies believed the people were too big and the cities were too fortified to be conquered (Numbers 13:28-29). Despite the actions and positive encouragement of Caleb and Joshua, the people rebelled, complained, and even plotted to choose a new leader to return to Egypt (Numbers 14:1-4). After Moses interceded, God decided not to destroy the people but to answer their prayer request to die in the wilderness (Numbers 14:3, 20-23).

APPLY –  God often brings us to situations which seem impossible for us. These obstacles are just opportunities for God to prove His power, manifest His presence, and fulfill His promises in our lives. Whatever odds are against you, don’t go back to the past and pains of Egypt. Don’t give up and die in the wilderness. Don’t even grumble and complain at the nay-sayers’ report. There’s a Promised Land in our future and God wants to prove His power in our lives.

PRAY – Father God, on this Veteran’s Day, we are thankful for the men and women who like Joshua and Caleb fulfilled their assignments and fought faithfully for the freedom we now enjoy. Bless them indeed to enjoy their full share of Your promises. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

God’s Promise!

Numbers 11-12

READ –  “Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘Has My arm lost Its power? Now you will see whether or not My word comes true!’”  — Numbers 11:23 NLT

EXAMINE – The people complained about the hardship of the wilderness (Numbers 11:1-3). Some foreigners among them craved meat and the foods of Egypt (Numbers 11:4-6). Moses complained about carrying the heavy load of the people on his shoulders (Numbers 11:10-15). Miriam and Aaron criticized Moses for his marriage and his leadership (Numbers 12:1-2). God heard all of this and sent punishment to the people (Numbers 11:3, 33-34) and to Miriam (Numbers 12:9-12) and partners in ministry to Moses (Numbers 11:16-17, 24-25).

APPLY –  When the LORD told Moses that He would answer the people’s complaints by giving them meat for a whole month until it would make them sick (Numbers 11:18-20), Moses doubted (Numbers 11:21-22). But God assured Moses that He had not lost His power, that He was not limited in His provisions and that He could still live up to His promises! Have you ever thought that your situation, your sickness, your storm was too severe even for God? Take comfort and courage today in knowing that God is still able to do all things!

PRAY – Father God, during these unprecedented times, help us not to complain about our mishaps but to celebrate the miracles You’re working among us! In Jesus’ Name, Amen
