READ – “Esther had not told anyone of her nationality and family background, because Mordecai had directed her not to do so.” — Esther 2:10 NLT
EXAMINE – At the direction of Mordecai (v. 20), Esther never revealed her Jewish identity or family background (v.10). Esther received favor by all who saw her (v.15). She was also favored by the king and crowned as queen (v. 17). While standing at the king’s gate, Mordecai overheard a plot to assassinate the king (v.21). Mordecai told Esther; and she told the king but gave credit to Mordecai (v.22). The two men planning the assassination were hung on a tree (v.23).
APPLY – Esther had a good reason for hiding her identity. There may be times we must conceal our identity temporarily and wait for the right time to be heard. Are you acting as a “secret agent” for Christ? Are you hiding who you are in Christ? We can’t deny God and expect Him to bless us.
PRAY – Father God, help us to always identify with you! Matthew 10:32-33 declares, “Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven.” In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
