Throughout his career, his level of musicianship has been described as phenomenal, life-changing, and second-to-none. His masterful technique and artistic delivery have earned the attention and respect of artists and musicians across the United States and abroad.
Currently serving as the Music Director for Kurt Carr and the Kurt Carr Singers, Timothy continues to make an indelible mark on the Gospel music industry. He has been a featured clinician in workshops and conferences - providing singers and musicians with insight, instruction and opportunities for development. As an accompanist and contributing writer, he has contributed to the success of a vast number of recordings, working with such artists as Darrel Petties (Strength in Praise), Billy Rivers (Angelic Voices of Faith, Inc.), Smokie Norful, and a host of others. In 2005, he worked on the “Look Up, Sing Out” project, released by EMI Gospel. In 2009, he worked on Smokie Norful’s “Live in Memphis” DVD.
In his formative years, Timothy developed an intense interest in playing drums at the age of two and bass guitar at the age of twelve. His musical gifts were nurtured and developed at the New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, where he served faithfully for many years. He studied under the legendary Rev. Robert James Matthews at Fairley High School in Memphis, Tennessee, and quickly became one of Memphis’ most sought after musicians. He has served as Director of the LeMoyne-Owen College Gospel Choir, and as a musician with the incomparable Leo Davis and Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church. Timothy’s outstanding musicianship has been featured on several television productions – including Bobby Jones Gospel, BET’s Celebration of Gospel, the Joni Lamb Show (DayStar Christian Television), and various programs on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN).
Presently, Timothy is serving the music ministry of Brown Missionary Baptist Church. He often comments about how his life has been impacted by the teachings of Pastor Orr and the love shown to him by the choir and congregation. Timothy is also a devoted father and husband who leans heavily on the power of God to accomplish things for the Kingdom.
